  • How do I use it?

Cordyceps extract powder is most commonly taken by mixing it into a warm drink or food. You can stir it into mug of warm water, tea, coffee, or cacao, or blend it into smoothies. It can also be added to soups and broths.

Cordyceps has a naturally earthy flavour (but not mushroomy).

    Consistency matters more than timing.

  • How much should I take?

    • General performance: 1000-2000mg per day
    • Improve tolerance to high-intensity exercise: 3000mg-4000mg per day

The usual dosage, from the scientific literature, is 1000mg-3000mg per day of Cordyceps extract powder.  However, higher doses have been found effective in research. A human clinical study used 4000mg per day demonstrated improvement for high-intensity exercise performance. Even higher doses of cordyceps supplements can be considered for specific immune system support with the recommendation of a medical professional. Note that higher doses may reduce blood sugar levels.

Higher doses should only be considered with professional guidance.

  • When should I take it?

An important thing to remember, mushroom extracts is not like a stimulant, or energy drink, where you get benefit immediately after taking it.

Cordyceps instead works at repairing and maintaining at the cellular level. So, it can be taken at any time of day. Many people take it in the morning as part of their daily routine, while others prefer splitting it into two servings across the day.

Much like training itself, consistency is the key.

  • Can I overdo it?

Cordyceps extract is generally well tolerated, but very high intakes may cause digestive discomfort for some people.

If this occurs, reduce your dose, split it across the day, or pause for a few days and restart at a lower amount.

  • Does Cordyceps interact with medications or health concerns?

Cordyceps may not be suitable for everyone. Extra care is advised in the following situations:

    • Cancer: Check with your doctor if you are under treatment.
    • Diabetes. Take care that it does not lower your blood sugars to cause hypoglycemia.
    • A bleeding disorder (or are taking blood thinners)
    • An autoimmune disorder, cordyceps may cause more severe symptoms or flare-ups
    • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding and children should also avoid taking cordyceps. Researchers don’t know if cordyceps is safe for them.
    • If you’re going to have surgery, be sure to tell your surgeon if you are taking cordycep. It may increase your bleeding risk.

Always consult a health care professional before starting mushroom extracts. Especially if you have any of the following conditions.

  • How long does it take to feel the effects?

Cordyceps is not a fast-acting stimulant. Most people notice more meaningful benefits with consistent daily use over several weeks.

    • “2–4 weeks” for most people

    • “longer with endurance adaptations”

Because it’s commonly used to support longer-term changes at the cellular level, the effects tend to build gradually over time.

  • Is Cordyceps safe to take long-term?

Yes, Cordyceps has a long history of traditional use and is commonly taken long-term when used within recommended amounts.

For most people, consistent daily use at moderate doses is well tolerated. If you’re taking medication or using it alongside other supplements long-term, it’s sensible to review your routine with a healthcare professional.

  • How does Cordyceps work?

Cordyceps works by supporting energy production and metabolic processes at a cellular level. Research has focused on its relationship with ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the primary energy molecule used by cells during physical and cognitive activity.

Compounds found in Cordyceps are studied for their role in supporting mitochondrial function, oxygen utilisation, and efficient nutrient-to-energy conversion. Together, these mechanisms are linked to endurance, stamina, and the body’s ability to sustain performance over time.

Rather than acting as a stimulant, Cordyceps is typically associated with gradual, longer-term support as these cellular processes adapt with consistent use.

  • What does Cordyceps taste like?

Cordyceps extract has a mild, earthy flavour with a subtle savoury note. It is not strongly mushroom-like and is generally less bitter than many other medicinal mushroom extracts.

Most people find the taste neutral and easy to blend into warm drinks, coffee, cacao, or smoothies, where it becomes barely noticeable.

  • Can I take Cordyceps with other mushroom extracts?

Yes — Cordyceps is commonly combined with other mushroom extracts as part of a broader routine.

Many people pair it with Reishi for post exercise recovery or Lion’s Mane for sharper cognitive performance.  for antioxidant support. When stacking extracts, start with moderate doses and adjust gradually based on how your body responds.

  • Should I cycle Cordyceps or take breaks?

Cycling Cordyceps is optional. Many people take it continuously without issue, while others prefer to take short breaks — for example, 1 week off every 6–8 weeks — as a way to check in with how their body feels.

There’s no strict rule. Consistent use is generally more important than cycling, especially at moderate daily doses.
