Our shiitake grow block (grow kits) is sold fully matured, so they’re ready-to-go. We have taken out the long wait usually associated with these mushrooms and made success a certainty.
Please note: growing Shiitake is a little more complicated than growing Oyster mushrooms. If you are new to growing mushrooms we recommend you grow Oysters first in order to learn the ropes.
Others sell kits or logs. Kits may require you to find a suitable stump or log (usually deciduous hardwoods like oak), drill your own holes, seal with beeswax and wait …and wait. It may take over a year for anything to happen if anything happens at all!
What’s in the bag?
The substrate is made from Organic Pine plus locally grown Wheat and Bran whole grain + rainwater. All mushroom cultures we use we have cultured in our own lab so they are 100% NZ made, not China imports.

Because we need to incubate these for a long time, they are of limited availability. If they show out of stock on the website, contact us and we will put you at the top of the queue.
