We were honoured to be invited to a fairly exclusive event held by MPI. This “Primary Industries Connection event” was attended by the entire MPI executive team, plus leading Primary Industry stakeholders in our region.

We were able to strut our humble stuff and talk with CEO Ray Smith about our focus on smaller sustainable farming practices, aligned to local communities; rather than the big industry export-driven focus which seems to prevail at the government level.

We also spoke with Penny Nelson, head of Bio Security about the challenges facing small mushroom growers and how to better work with MPI in importing cultures, particularly the difficulty regarding blue oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus).
