If you haven’t seen it already we recommend watching Fantastic Fungi on Netflix. Do It!
It’s an award-winning documentary that explores the mysterious world of fungi and their unique and essential life-enabling role on the planet. The documentary then traces the fungal network through to their life-saving ability (for cancer sufferers). And, the most effective medicine in treating depression and PTSD.
This doco is centred around the legendary Paul Stamets. He has become the de facto spokesperson for fungi. He’s also the most influential person in leading others on their mycological journey. In fact, after listening to him a few years ago on a Joe Rogan experience podcast he was the inspiration that got me thinking. Are these types of mushrooms something that you could grow in NZ? And, is there a market for them? The rest I guess is history.
